The Pharaoh s Daughter
performance at The Royal Opera House in London crowned the
tour of the Russian Bolshoi Theatre s Ballet on Saturday.
Bolshoi Director General Anatoly Iksanov
characterised the performances of the theatre s troupe in
London as very successful.
Both the classic repertoire and new experimental
plays have been enthusiastically met by the audience and the
critics, Iksanov told Itar-Tass.
Over two weeks and a half the Bolshoi
ballet troupe showed Don Quixote, Swan Lake, Spartacus that
are well familiar to the British audience, as well as their
premieres Romeo and Juliet staged by the brilliant British
director Declan Donnellan and the Pharaoh s Daughter ballet
revived by French choreographer Pierre Lacotte.
According to Iksanov, the fact that the
Bolshoi Theatre ballet has reached an agreement with the British
side to come for a tour in 2006 proves the Russian ballet
dances have been a success.
On Sunday morning, the Bolshoi director
said, the dancers with part of the scenery will fly to Moscow.
The other part of the scenery will be
dispatched to the United States where the Bolshoi Theatre
will hold its next tour in October-November.
