1
|
|
The divided city |
|
The city divided into two parts being
at war with each other.
The families of Montegue and Capulet
are obsessed with a fatal enmity called vendetta.
Romeo, the Montegues’ young offspring, is in love with Rosalind.
The Capulet parents present their daughter
Juliet with a dress for her first ball.
The vendetta bursts out into open clashes in the streets.
Romeo and Mercutio Invited to the ball,
Rosalind goes to the Capulets’ palace.
Romeo is ready to risk his life to see
his beloved at the ball. Mercutio, his friend, follows him.

Juliet’s parents introduce to her a young aristocrat Paris.
|
|
The disguised Mercutio
manages to come to the ball, too. He plays a jest on Tybald,
Juliet’s cousin.
Romeo and Juliet see each other for the
first time. |
|
Tybald recognises
Romeo and tears off his mask. Mercutio interferes with their
conflict to rescue Romeo and to give him an opportunity to
leave the place. |

Romeo and Juliet make a declaration of love to each other. |

|
Amidst the carnival crowd, Romeo and
Juliet separately make their ways to reach Father Lourenzo’s
cell at the monastery. |

Lorenzo gives Juliet in marriage to Romeo. |

The feast is in full
swing. Everyone praises Mercutio for his brave and daring
behaviour at the ball.
Tybald turns up, eager to take a revenge
on Mercutio.
Mercutio dies in Romeo's arms. |

Romeo kills Tybald in revenge for Mercutio’s death. |
|

Lady Capulet mourns over Tybald. |

2 |
|
Juliet’s bedroom |
|
Juliet is having a secret date with Romeo, who has to leave the city to escape
certain death. |
|
|
Juliet’s parents bring in Paris and insist on their prompt
wedding. |
|
|
The street |
In despair Juliet rushes for help
to Father Lorenzo, who gives her a drug which will cause a
sleep similar to death. |

|
Juliet takes in the drug. |
|
The Capulets' family crypt. |
Juliet rests in the family crypt on
a special couch.
Romeo finds Juliet there and kills himself.

Juliet wakes up. On finding her beloved breathless, she kills herself. |
