Ìària Gavrilova (soprano),

Ìaria Gavrilova was born in the city of Chelyabinsk. She started studying vocal at the Chelyabinsk Music College in her father’s vocal class. Later she was admitted to the Moscow State Conservatoire’s Singing Faculty and continued her education in I. I. Maslennikova’s class. While being a student of the Conservatoire, in 1990 she became a probationer with the Bolshoi Theatre Opera Company.

At present she is a soloist with the Bolshoi Theatre Opera.

She started her singing career with the role of Îêsana in N. À. Rimsky – Korsakov’s opera " The Night Before Christmas ".

The singer has taken part in the International Tchaikovsky Competition of Vocalists, has become the winner at the All-Union Glinka Competition of Vocalists.

In 1992 she successfully toured the island of Malta and Japan with her concert repertoire, she participated in opera productions of the theatres of Belgium, France, Germany (1993), sang in the Washington Opera (" The Queen of Spades ", 1998), the Metropolitan-Opera (" The Gambler ", 2001).
