Although
speaking about it with an apologizing smile, he strictly
observes the long-standing tradition of ballet dancers:
to prick on any sharp object - a needle or a pin - to
good luck. It’s also a good omen if you have a French
pin fixed onto the costume when on the stage. In makes
everything all right.
Uvarov
is often talked about as " minion of fortune ".
The idea is that, at first glance, the honoured status of
ballet premiere yielded to him without much swear.
But the things are not as easy as they
seem to be. According to Andrey’s words if he did not love
dancing so passionately, he would have left ballet, as it
doesn’t come easy to him.

In Best Male Dancer nomination the decision
was much easier to take. Andrey Uvarov, a brilliant Bolshoi
premiere, within his only five-minute solo appearance in "
Dreams about Japan " impressed and mesmerised the public
and ballet professionals into strong belief in his up-coming
winner status.
If only the jury had dared to disappoint
the hopes of legions of admirers of Nikolay Tsiscaridze’s
gentle talent! Not for a world! So "the Mask" was
granted to the handsome “blue-eyed boy” of the public.
